The Ashley Gorge Via Ferrata is the longest via ferrata in the United States, located in Ashley National Forest just outside Vernal, Utah. Climbers work up fixed steel rungs anchored straight into the canyon wall, cross a suspension bridge high above the river, and move across several exposed, cable-protected sections along the way.
The route is self-guided and open to the public from March through November — no guide required. The full course can take 5–10 hours depending on your group size and pace. To legally access the route you must carry a UIAA-certified harness, via ferrata lanyard, and climbing helmet.
